|2013 - 2015||15,000 children|
Baptist Haiti Mission (BHM) is a Christian ministry with a central office located in Rockford, Michigan (USA). BHM began ministering in the mountains of Haiti in the late 1940s. Currently, the work of the Mission is established in eight of the ten departments of Haiti and includes church growth, education, and health care ministries. A large part of its ministry is carried out by Haitian leaders.
At around 100 primary schools in the northwest, BHM's Northwest Education Program seeks to improve standards of education in that region through child sponsorship, classroom construction, and teacher training. World Servants Netherlands cooperates with BHM to build a teacher training center, classroom blocks and water cisterns for schools affiliated with BHM. There are also plans to extent BHM's child sponsorship program to the northwest, so that children in sponsored schools will receive necessary school uniforms, meals, tuition fees and vaccinations.
Through this program 15,000 rural primary school children in the northwest region of Haiti will benefit from more participatory and creative classes, improved concentration in class, and more time to study and play.
